History & Vision
MENTOR Maryland began as a single service provider in 1990, serving children with developmental disabilities in our therapeutic foster care program. As a part of Sevita (previously The MENTOR Network), we have grown to a diversified agency serving hundreds of children and adolescents with varying needs throughout the state.
Our Experience
For more than 20 years, our Therapeutic Foster Care program has matched children with Mentors, or specially trained foster parents, who form caring relationships with each child—providing the foundation for development, growth and change. The continued success of this program and innovative “Mentor Model” brought about tremendous growth for our organization. By 1995, we had established additional offices in Prince George’s County and the Eastern Shore and soon after we launched our medically-fragile foster care program.
In 2003, MENTOR Maryland partnered with Family Advocacy Services, a local Maryland provider, serving children at risk and families through a range of treatment services and community-based environments.
Together, MENTOR Maryland and Family Advocacy Services can offer a continuum of services to enhance the quality of life for hundreds of individuals in need.
Our successful track record is a result of our:
- Dedicated management team with years of experience in the public and private sector;
- History of creative public and private partnerships as well as collaborations with the community;
- Delivery of high quality care based on individual approaches and flexible options; and
- Innovative, cost-effective solutions with demonstrated outcomes.
